First Steps

Ministry and Connection In Moshi, Tanzania

Not What We Expected...

Our first official(ish) outreach for Creative Culture was to Moshi, Tanzania.

What an amazing trip!

If you have ever been on a mission trip, you may picture the same thing we did before heading to Moshi. Images of crazy meetings where God rocks a field of people, heals countless with ailments, and the altar is flooded with people wanting salvation! That’s a little where our minds were.

It wasn’t what we expected.

This trip had some great moments of connection, some outreach to the locals and the Masai, and quite a bit of practical meetings and planning.

One of our primary purposes in Moshi was to support our friend Jill, who has been a missionary there for 26+ years. Her heart is to establish a missions school for young people who feel called to missions. It would be a hands-on experience, while being able to live in the mission field. Starting a school like this requires a lot of dreaming and planning. That was a large part of our work there.

We worked on our computers, shared meals, worked on our Swahili, and built relationship with people on a personal level, which is at the core of our hearts.

We did have some beautiful ministry times there as well. We made a couple trips out to Masai villages where we shared meals, played and sang songs with children, and shared the Good News with them. In fact, because of his gauges in his ears, Chris received a special welcome by Chief Mateo because of their practice of stretching their piercings.

On Saturday evenings, we had the opportunity to use the space at the Courage Cafe for english speaking worship nights. Our team led worship for those nights. It was such a precious time that blessed us ,the local missionaries and the Courage community.

There are many beautiful stories that we want to share, and will be adding to the blog page little by little.
